Let's assume there are ignorant people(like me) out there. What is Steam, what does it do, and how would GW benefit from being on this?

Integrated off-game friend list, faster downloading updates (nZone always dl at your max speed, unlike GW which goes at like 200kbs), more exposure to people = more sales

It's an interesting idea, and the only advantage I really see is the increased download speed. Other than that, I'd say /notsign.
Oh, and your link needs to include the close parenthesis, otherwise it leads to an invalid page of wikipedia.

thats a pretty retarded comment and here is the reason why.
http://steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=home&cc=FR
that is unless you think all those games are VALVE.
--------
personally i dont see the point but since EvE did it there must be some kind of marketing logic behind it.
if its just because you want to uhh clean up your desktop theres dozens of different ways to do that but if you really MUST have it on Steam then like people have said you can add programs to it manually.

NCsoft has its own launcher.
Download that one and forget about Steam.

the point of this thread and of wanting to see Guild Wars on steam was that it would get more attention to the game
There are games many games like Bioshock or Stalker or Eve that don't require steam to run but are for sale on the Steam page
It would also make voice chat easier for the new people who might buy guild wars off steam and use steam to play the game because it has all the built in capabilities already instead of having to download all these little programs, plus you can message people offline etc
Its cool man

Let's put it this way. If you and your friends ingame decide to hook up and do some PvE or whatever, all of you can simply shift+tab to bring up an overlay, hit up your Steam friends list (assuming you all have each other added), initiate a multi-user chat room, invite all members of the party to the chat room, turn on voice chat and talk away. No server info / IP trading necessary, both voice sensitivity and push-to-talk methods are supported, voice quality has been up'ed in an update a few days ago. This is a great example of the many conveniences you will have if you play Guild Wars (or any game) with Steam running. It is a very classy program crafted by the geniuses at Valve. It may had a bumpy launch, but at looking at it today, it's a damn fine program to have.
PS I know my post is a big run on, but I'm trying to get the point across.

Or we could all be in vent. Which, if i'm playing with friends/guildies, we would be.

You don't seem to understand.
Steam isn't just a 'shop'. There must be contracts and agreements to make a game available in that system. Guild Wars is exclusive to NCSoft.
For NCSoft, Valve is just competition.
You don't sell competition stuff in your shop.

so are these companies competing with valve or helping get their product out to more people?
Among its clients are Strategy First,[3] PopCap Games,[4] THQ,[5] 2K Games, Activision, Capcom, Codemasters[6], Eidos Interactive, Firaxis Games, id Software[7], Ritual Entertainment, Rockstar Games[8], Sega, Take-Two Interactive, Epic Games[9], and Ubisoft.[10] As of January 29, 2008, over 250 games are available on Steam,[11] and as of February 7, 2008, there are over 15 million accounts.[12]

How many sell online only games over steam?? Selling Piracy-affected games over steam may have a benefit, but for online only games, that is close to non-existing.

Needing to run steam to play a game? RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO no! I already tried that with Dark Messiah, now I can't play my game anymore thanks to Valve's terribad program steam.
Guild Wars already has a nearly perfect client and server system (aside from that pesky bug I have that freezes my computer after too long spent on the EotN main menu screen) and does not need to be ruined by Valve's inferior products. (And valve's products are inferior; they're a mediocre company at best in my opinion; they're not a shining star of quality like Relic, Epic, or BioWare Corp.)
A vehement no.

Those are DEVELOPERS, like ANet, not DISTRIBUTERS, like NCSoft.
As I said, you don't seem to understand.
